Learning processes - why?
Why does the written language and books have top
priority in schools? What becomes of body language, the language of design, the figurative
language and the musical language?
Story
Line
With the story-line-method the pupil gets practice in
taking a stand on a given formulation of a problem, in showing options for actions
together, and in coming to an understanding of the fact that the world looks the way it
does, because we act the way we do. That may further both the power of identifying oneself
and the competence of action.
- Breaking down habitual thinking
The aim of the project Creative Counterplay is to
make the students open to new impressions and make them want to express themselves in new
ways. We are working at making earlier learning elements to enter into new connections.
- Learning By Doing
Imagine that 900 new pupils were going to be
registered at your - or your child´s school after the summer holiday! And what is more,
in addition to the 1200 pupils, who already attend the school. The situation seems to be
absurd and pure fiction in most countries, but that were the harsh realities at the end of
the summer holiday in January 2000 at Vukani Primary School in the South African township,
Lower Crossroads at Cape Town.
- Pictures Of The History Of
Suppression
The material is primarily a picture - and information base for teachers and
pupils in the oldest classes in the Folkeskole and the youth education, who want to
examine and understand some of the historical reasons why the world is split up into rich
and poor countries and people.
- Democracy and Human Rights
Developing
Fourteen South American teachers from Bolivia, Peru, Chile and Brazil
visited SPF in March 2000. The following article from "Youth Town 2000"
describes the background, purpose, programme of the this project, and the inspiration and
ideas for new north - south - south projects - after two weeks stay at the Innovative
Centre.
- Roast Monkey and Liver Pâté
The pupils´ exotic ideas are the bridge to deal with more serious subjects
in the teaching about foreign countries. Starting from the fascination of the unknown you
can capture the young people´s interest for heavier and more theoretical contexts.
